The origin of Khokhloma Russian wood and porcelain painting handicraft style dates back to the 17th century Russia, Volga region.
Each item is made from famous Russian white clay, then hand-painted in the classic Khokhloma style, then lacquered to add the shine. Typically, Khokhloma depicts flowers, berry and leaf patterns, and sometimes mythical figures from popular Russian fairytales.
Khokhloma handcraft works are painted in combination of vibrant colors, such as bright red, black, green, yellow, orange over a gold or black background.
